The Brickhouse Robusto By Christine 6/22/10

....Conclusion: This cigar is very well constructed and maintained an even burn with no need to relight. This cigar is fantastic for the price. It is a great medium bodied smoke, perfect for a daily cigar. JC Newman did a top notch job blending a cigar that can please the palate of a vast variety of cigar smokers.....Full Review Here

Stogies and Bogeys - Reflections on life, golf, and great cigars

....I was in Dallas this week and visited my favorite tabaquaria, Addison Cigar and Tobacco. I decided to try the Brickhouse from JC Newman and was promptly informed that the people from JC Newman were going to be there next week for a tasting. I really need to get on that mailing list so I can plan my work travel around their cigar tastings.

Nevertheless, I sat down and enjoyed the heck out of the Brickhouse....Full Review Here

Cigar Fan - Sounds like a rockin’ place.

....The first incarnation of Brick House was released in 1937 as a “clear Havana,” a cigar made in the United States from imported Cuban leaf. The new blend released in 2009 is a Nicaraguan cigar with what I assume is a proprietary wrapper leaf called “Havana Subido,” ™ a sun grown Ecuadorian Habano. Like the Newmans’ El Baton, Brick House is made by Tabacos San Rafael in Totogalpa, Nicaragua....Full Review Here

Cigar Asylum Review – “hard to believe this is a $5 smoke”

....Today we take on another new release from the IPCPR show in New Orleans, the Brickhouse from J.C. Newman Cigars. This Nicaraguan puro has gotten a fair amount of buzz lately. This cigar is a resurrected blend from the J.C. company line, taken on by third generationers Eric and Bobby Newman. This is the second cigar resurrected, the first being the El Baton. The line was originally created by their grandfather, Julius Ceasar Newman, who founded J.C. Newman Cigar Company in 1895. The Brickhouse was originally created to honor Julius’ family history and the house he grew up in—the only bricked house in the neighborhood that doubled as the town tavern. This is definitely a tribute cigar that doesn’t disappoint!....Full Review Here

Puff.com – Review of Brickhouse Robusto

....I've been reading, here and there, about the Brickhouse line of cigars. Just little snippets, here and there; like Cigar Insider's 91 rating. I finally saw one at a local B&M, but passed. I saw them again today at my favorite discount B&M and took the plunge; for a lovely little robusto.....Full Review Here

Kear Brothers Cigar Journal – She IS a Brick House

....It was a very smooth smoke. Try it when you have at least one hour to spare. It is not the most beautiful sight lit or not. The ash is deceptive. It appears light and flaky but almost snaps when you dispatch it. It burns a bit crooked but honestly I had more trouble with the lighter than the cigar. If you like Nicaraguan cigars you will really enjoy the Brick House. Full Review Here

Best Bargain Cigars of 2009 – Cigar Aficionado

Americans are natural bargain hunters. It’s a national instinct that has developed over decades of comparison shopping, chasing down sales and other adapted behavior to best survive in the free market. The cigar smoker wants as much value for his dollar as anyone else, but is also cognizant of quality, perhaps more so than the average consumer, so we have amassed our annual list of high-quality, bargain cigars....Full Review Here

Tampa Cigar Examiner, Brick House Toro – Cigar Review

...I heard many positive comments from others at the shop I was in. The local representative had brought along seven boxes and several bundles. By the end of the evening, there were only a handful left. I think this will become a popular seller, especially at the price points I saw...Full Review Here

Cigar Asylum – Cigar Forum

...The wrapper on this was smooth & silky, slightly oily and virtually vein-free. There seemed to be one prominent stem just below the surface, but it didn’t affect the cigar. The tobacco at the foot was bunched nicely. The band caught my eye: the artwork was simple, and the colors & font gave it a vintage Victorian look. The draw was easy, the cigar put out copious smoke, the burn was sharp, never needed a touch-up and the ash held well for about 1½” at a time.... Full Review Here

Cuenca Cigars Review

...Pre draw had a light coffee taste, but when lit its was sharp with a earthy and spice taste. The cigar burnt very even with no touch up during the first third and continued to give off a sweet cedar flavor. The second third picked up in strength to a fuller medium body cigar and a very pleasant draw with a strong ash which held up...Full Review Here
